Anna Karenina by The Joffrey Ballet

Thanks to a wonderful someone’s thoughtful generosity, I was able to see Anna Karenina by The Joffrey Ballet while it was on stage at The Kennedy Center.

Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy’s “first novel”, is one of my favorite books of all time - so this was a special treat! This dance adaptation, choreographed by Yuri Possokhov, retains all of the scandal, emotion, and social commentary that makes this piece of canonical literature so great. The set design, by Tom Pye, and the musical composition, by Ilya Demutsky, come together beautifully.
